Taken together with additional features including full analog control in 3D game environments, motion and gyro sensors that transfer the movements of the handheld into the game, 3D camera functionality, an adjustable stylus and full backwards compatibility and you have not only a must-have system, but a revolution in handheld gaming.

Nintendo 3DS Features Real 3D Graphics With No Glasses Needed

Introducing the amzing new Nintendo 3DS system. Experience incredible gameplay featuring real 3D graphics that do not require any special glasses or additional accessories. The Nintendo 3DS is a real breakthrough in portable entertainment, a truly cutting-edge piece of hardware that has to be seen to be believed.

Hardware Features

3D Screen

Like previous handhelds released by Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS incorporates both an upper and lower LCD display in a clamshell layout. The lower screen features familiar Nintendo touchscreen technology, is 3.02″ (2.42″ wide x 1.81″ high) with 320 x 240 pixel resolution and is capable of displaying 16.77 million colors, but the groundbreaking upper 3D screen of the Nintendo 3DS system is where Nintendo opens up a whole new world of eye-popping gameplay possibilities. This 3.53″ display (3.02″ wide x 1.81″ high) is capable of displaying approximately the same 16.77 million colors, but with 800 x 240 pixel resolution. 400 pixels are allocated to each eye to enable 3D viewing. This stereoscopic 3D display gives objects within the gameworld a feeling of space and depth that extends far into the back of the screen. This amazing depth of field effect vastly increases the ability to see the position of characters and obstacles in compatible game, making many game experiences even more intuitive for all types of players.

3D Depth Slider

A built-in 3D Depth Slider along the right side of the top display allows you to immediately adjust the intensity of the 3D settings on the Nintendo 3DS system to your liking. The 3D effect can also be turned down completely if the player so chooses. All Nintendo 3DS games and applications can be played in 2D, and look better when played on the Nintendo 3DS than any Nintendo handheld before it.

Motion Sensor and Gyro Sensor

Portable play control reaches a new level with the Nintendo 3DS’ Motion Sensor and Gyro Sensor combination. Together these precision built-in features allow for new and unique gameplay mechanics as the 3DS reacts to real-time motion and tilt. Whether players are twisting their systems side to side, or moving it up and down, their motion-compatible Nintendo 3DS games respond instantly.

Circle Pad Analog Control

With the Circle Pad, located above the + Control Pad, Nintendo 3DS offers full analog control in 3D game worlds. Combined with the touch screen, traditional buttons, camera and microphone input, and advanced motion control of the Motion Sensor and Gyro Sensor, the potential is extraordinary.

3D Camera Functionality

Along with a digital camera facing inwards towards the player, the Nintendo 3DS system features two outer cameras positioned along its upper edge when device is open. These two cameras see the world in 3D, much like the human eye, allowing for the creation of 3D photos – and a similar 3D effect to that seen in Nintendo 3DS games. All cameras feature 640 x 480 resolutions with single focus lenses that use the CMOS capture element and an active pixel count is approximately 300,000 pixels.

Adjustable Stylus

The adjustable Nintendo 3DS Stylus takes the idea of touch control to a new and even more user-friendly level. Once removed from the holder, the stylus length can be adjusted to your liking with a simple push or pull. Now anyone can achieve the optimum level of comfort while playing games that use the stylus.

Cradle Charging

Dock your Nintendo 3DS system whenever you are not using it in the included Charging Cradle to keep it powered. You can then leave the system on in Sleep Mode while charging, so that it can communicate via the SpotPass feature at any time of day or night.

Other Key Features

StreetPass

Social and wired like no Nintendo system before it, Nintendo 3DS brings fellow players together in exciting new ways with StreetPass communication. Set your Nintendo 3DS to Sleep Mode and carry it with you wherever you go to exchange game data like Mii characters, high scores, and custom characters with other users you pass on the street. You control what data you exchange and you can exchange data for multiple games at once, making virtual connections with real world people you encounter in your daily life.

SpotPass

Nintendo 3DS includes SpotPass, a feature that lets Nintendo 3DS detect wireless hotspots or wireless LAN access points and obtain information, game data, free software, videos and so on for players even when the system is in sleep mode.*

2 GB SD Memory Card Included

Every Nintendo 3DS system comes packed with a 2 GB SD memory card. You can use this SD memory card to store your 3D photos, and sound recordings created on the Nintendo 3DS system, and music** from your PC. You can also use it to store games downloaded from the Nintendo eShop. The Nintendo 3DS system has SDHC card compatibility to increase your storage space even further.

Backwards Compatibility

Almost all existing Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games can be played on a Nintendo 3DS system in 2D. With backwards compatibility, your existing portable games look and play just as well.***

Wireless Communications

Nintendo 3DS utilizes a frequency of 2.4 GHz, enabling local wireless communication among multiple Nintendo 3DS systems for game play and StreetPass, as well as access to the Internet through wireless LAN access points (supports IEEE802.11 b/g with the WPA/WPA2 security feature). Recommended distance of wireless communication is within 98.4 feet. This can be shorter depending on the environmental situation.

What’s In The Box

Nintendo 3DS system, Nintendo 3DS charging cradle, Nintendo 3DS AC adapter, Nintendo 3DS stylus, SD Memory Card (2 GB), six AR card(s) (view the cards using the outer cameras to play supported AR games), Quick-Start Guide, Operations Manual (including warranty).

My 11 year old son eagerly awaited the release of this game and saved his birthday money for two months to pay for this game. He is actually home sick this week with pneumonia and this game has been great for keeping him in bed and resting. It’s full of all his favortie pokemon characters, challenging and fun! Even my 17 year old was watching him play and said he’d like the game too!

Tetris: Axis

The original portable Tetris game was a smash hit on the Game Boy system. The new Tetris: Axis game lets players use the magic of the Nintendo 3DS system to jump into the action in 3D without the need for special glasses. The game includes more than 20 different modes, some familiar, some new. Up to eight players can compete in wireless multiplayer battles, even if only one player has a game card. Tetris: Axis also makes use of the augmented-reality and SpotPass features of Nintendo 3DS.

This review is from: Tetris: Axis (Video Game)

Axis is probably the best version of Tetris to date. I haven’t played Tetris DS or Party Deluxe, but I don’t think they can top this :) I may get them anyways just to try them out. If you’re a fan of this game, then without a doubt I would recommend this in a heartbeat. With over 20 modes, including the AR functionally, you’ll never get bored as this has extreme infinite replay value! And you can do wifi, local, or download play with other 3DS gamers!! Tetris has never been this fun and you’ll easily get used to the controls. But I warn you, your hands will be glued to your 3DS until the battery needs to be charged ;)

Pet Zombies

There’s no better pet than an undead pet! Pet Zombies for Nintendo 3DS lets you reanimate your very own customizable zombies that you can play with, care for, or torment in a variety of environments where they can shamble, shuffle and lurch. Bond with your zombie by providing it food, toys and interaction, but be careful; if you neglect your zombie, you may find yourself minus a finger, or…a brain!

Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove

Terror up the dance floor with Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove 3D! Poor Gabrielle sneezed her soul right out of her body and only the ghouls and ghosts of monsterville can help! She’ll need to bust out her best dance moves to get herself back into her body. It’s a spooktacular rhythm adventure with catchy tunes and chilling minigames that let you earn outfits, items and more. Playable in 2D and 3D. 3D mode for ages 7 and up.

This game is a ton of fun and more of a challenge than you would think. While it’s not SUPER hard, it has unique ‘moves’ that will keep any level of gamer on their toes. There are lots of fun things to unlock, from outfits and accessories, to monster badges, and storybook pages, and tarot cards.

I gave this game 4 stars because I feel the story mode is too short. Once you beat the story mode though the dance challenges on harder levels are unlocked. The story is zany and hilarious. There are a few mini games to spice things up once in a while too. You can take a short break from dancing, and enter a fashion show- Getting 5 stars on that seems to be the real puzzle challenge in the game lol. without cheating in gamefaqs like I am tempted!)

There are enough cute outfits, and recognizable songs to keep everyone interested, and the characters Gabrielle meets on her path are quite amusing. I won’t spoil your fun though, you have to play this one for yourself…

Spider-man: The Edge of Time

In “Spider-Man: Edge of Time,” Spider-Man faces one of his greatest challenges ever – saving Spider-Man. Developed by Activision-owned studio Beenox, Spider-Man: Edge of Time challenges the player to take on the roles of both classic Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099 to correct a time stream gone awry and prevent a catastrophic future brought on by the early and untimely death of Peter Parker. “Spider-Man: Edge of Time” is a focused, action-packed adventure set in two connected and evolving timelines, from the contemporary times of the Amazing Spider-Man to the corrupted future world of Spider-Man 2099, against the backdrop of a rich, tightly crafted narrative by acclaimed Marvel veteran Peter David (co-creator of the comic book series Spider-Man 2099). The game features all-new “cause-and-effect” gameplay, where players will see how the immediate and sometimes unexpected effects of their actions as one Spider-Man changes the timeline of the other Spider-Man.

4.0 out of 5 stars Admirable port of it’s console cousins, October 21, 2011

While it won’t turn any heads when compared to it’s HD counterparts, SPEOT on 3DS isnt too shabby. It’s one of the better ports of recent multi-platform releases on the portable. Initially, I was very impressed by the sheer scope of the levels and attention to detail in the character models. During the opening moments of the game, the close up camera views demonstrate tight texture work and smooth animation. Unfortunately some detail is lost later in game where the view is pulled far back to make way for expansive areas made for web-swinging. The frame rate holds up well as 8 or more enemies are on screen and, slight camera issues aside, the combat is fast and fun. As far as the 3D effect is concerned it works. I do appreciate how it sharpens and brightens the visuals a bit, but it doesnt add or detract anything from the actual gameplay, with the most noticeabe use being during cutscenes where there are multi-angled camera shots and lots of things flying in your face. not much to say…

I pre-ordered this game back in August of 2011. I was cheap and selected free supersaving shipping. Amazonn didn’t ship the game on the release date, and I finally got the game on 10/7 (last Friday.) Before I received the game, I read the first two bad reviews from here. I was worried that I wasted $39.99 (I also owned the PES2011 game and enjoy playing it.) Now that I’ve spent a few days with the game; I am doubting those two reviewers actually owned and/or played the game. This game is way better than PES2011. Not only the framerate is perfectly fine, the 3d graphics presentation is beautiful; also, control is simple, precise and reponsive. You can adjust the camera for many different viewing angles and zoom levels. Even with the camera zooms all the way out, the characters still looks perfect in 3d. It took effort to score goal in easy setting. Bottom line, this game rocks. EA has set an higher expectation for PES 2012.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally! A Fun Portable Version of the Sims!, October 21, 2011
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Sims 3: Pets (Video Game)

Wow! A console version of the Sims 3 worth playing! I gave up on console versions of the Sims and finally rented this title out of the lack of other 3DS titles released to date. I was surprised to have dedicated hours of game play to this, ever with other 5 star titles available to play. I actually prefer this to the PC version due to the fun and unheard of gameplay options (such as play as a pet only household) combined with a portable system and 3D graphics.

The good: Unlike the PC version, you can give the pets you create lifetime goals and you can play as the pet, even in a pet only household! You can also easily create townies of other Sims people and Sim pets to interact with in your game. The Sims you creat can be shared through street pass with other 3DS users and their Sims will be shared with you and you will have the option to add them to your town! This game is an open world with great design possibility, but there are also many fun goals and quest-like…
